For the first time, the Tamil Nadu government issued an order to celebrate Police Day from 2025. Thereafter, Police Day will be celebrated on September 9 every year. For that, Siragugal CRS FM and Karur District Police Department jointly organized various special events. Appreciating the same, District Superintendent of Police Mr. K. Jose Thangiah and District Collector Mr. M. Thangavelu IAS presented a memento to the Station Director Mr. R. Mohan.
National Handloom Day is celebrated annually on the 7th of August. In response, the program was recorded by meeting the weavers in Karur city, the home of weavers, in person and documenting their lives.
Siragugal FM 89.6 MHz, in collaboration with UNICEF, produced and broadcasted an awareness program on the spread of the coronavirus on the radio. Following this, an awareness program on the spread of Corona was also held for the residents of the Panchmadevi area with Sakthi Nursing College students.
The 100th episode of the Mann Ki Baat program, where the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, speaks openly to the people of the country via radio program, was broadcast live on our station in front of an audience.
Karur District Superintendent of Police Mr. K. Jose Thangiah has conducted various awareness events among the public in Karur district. As part of it, an awareness competition was held at the Siragugal CRS Fm 89.6 MHz. The ten winners who participated in it were presented with helmets by the District Superintendent of Police at our FM station.
Christmas Day was celebrated on December 25, the birthday of Jesus Christ, at Siragugal FM. Following that, we visited our listener’s homes through a secret Santa event and distributed gifts. It gave us great satisfaction to see the excitement on their faces and hearts through this event.

A Visionary Leader with a Heart for the People
Rtn. S. Chidambaram, the dynamic force behind Siragugal FM 89.6 MHz, is a well-known entrepreneur, philanthropist, and educationist from Panchamadevi, Karur. With decades of experience in institution building and community development, his contributions span finance, education, health, heritage, and media.
Born in 1962 to Shri K. Sellandipillai and Shrimathi S. Parvathi Ammal, he completed his graduation and post-graduation in Commerce from National College, Trichy and trained in auditing under M/s Palaniappan & Co., Karur. But it was his passion for public service that drove his life’s work.
Under the leadership of Station Director Maha Somaskandamurthy, a veteran with over four decades of radio experience, Siragugal FM is driven by professional creativity and community spirit.
